A URL looks like this: http://www.google.com/
The typical URL specifies the method used to access the resource (the protocol), the name of the host computer on which it is located, and the path of the resource, e.g. The beginning of the address indicates the type of resource: http: for Web pages, ftp: for file transfers or mailto: for e-mail addresses.
